Complex SAN Migration at Intelsat
Intelsat, the global leader in satellite communication services, required data migration from
a mid-range storage array storing data from a mixture of 18 clustered and non-clustered Unix and Windows servers to a newly purchased NetApp FAS 3070 storage
system. This heterogeneous data migration was complicated by need to move multiple boot LUNs, while performing the operation under limited migration windows.

Heterogeneous SAN Migration
A multi-billion dollar IT outsourcing company
required data migration services for a newly purchased NetApp FAS 6000 storage system. The migration would involve
data migration for 20 clustered and non-clustered servers, 5 different operating systems, and 230 LUNs. As an IT
outsourcing company with more than 70 data centers and half a million SAP users, the company had the know-how to
handle the project internally, but this was balanced by concerns over the time and management needed. Furthermore,
as an IT outsourcer, contractual service obligation meant the migration could only be performed during monthly
maintenance windows of limited duration.

Windows SAN Migration
Business growth at a company providing employment
and background screening services led to selection of a 3PAR S400 Storage Server to consolidate and manage its rapidly
expanding data storage needs. The company’s small IT staff had attempted a trial migration with host-based software
tools, but the prospect of migrating data for seven clustered Windows servers with re-configured LUNs led to selection
of Vicom’s turnkey migration services instead.

Time-Sensitive Storage System Upgrade of Multiple Data Centers
A federal government agency purchased four NetApp
FAS 6070 storage systems to replace aging mid-range SAN arrays at its regional data centers across the United States.
Because the data centers are used in the daily management of thousands of contracts, on-time completion of migration
to the new systems was considered essential for the agency’s operations. Although the agency’s IT staff had migration
experience, managers were concerned about their ability support timely migration of SQL, Exchange, and Oracle applications
running on VMWare servers. In order to meet the agency’s ambitious schedule, data for the four NetApp systems would need
to be migrated over four consecutive weekends — on-time and problem-free.

Time-Critical Financial Services Data Center Re-location for Deutsche Bank AG
When the events of 9/11 prevented re-location of Deutsche Bank’s Manhattan
data center, the company made a decision to consolidate its resources in nearby New Jersey. One of the key concerns was that the move could be
made without jeopardizing weekday operations. After several months of study and investigation and at the recommendation of IBM Global Services,
Deutsche Bank selected Vicom Systems for migration of the NYC data center.

Heterogeneous SAN Migration at Timken Company
To keep pace with data storage technology, Timken Company, a world leader in
engineered bearings, alloy, and specialty steel products, leases its storage systems under a regular replacement cycle. With over 40 plants
operating on a 7x24 basis, data migration to the replacement systems must be performed within very small maintenance windows. With over 20 HP,
Windows, AIX, and Solaris servers and a looming expiration of system lease, Timken faced the prospect of a protracted migration using host-based
software for its IBM ESS system. Timken and IBM Business Partner InfoSystems thus turned to Vicom Systems for guaranteed, on-time migration services.

Guaranteed, On-time SAN Migration at Logan Aluminum
At Logan Aluminum, shutdown of a mill caused by server downtime costs the company
several hundred thousand dollars per hour. As a result, the company’s IT staff had planned migrate data server-by-server to the company’s new IBM
ESS 800 storage system, using nights and weekends over a six-week period. As an alternative, IBM Business Partner InfoSystems proposed Vicom’s
migration services that were guaranteed to accomplish the same migration in a single weekend.
